Jonathan Hoyle is a Principal with The Lighting Practice. He has over 10 years of experience in the lighting profession, designing for a wide variety of environments such as academic, corporate, exhibits and museums, facades, historic, hospitality, transportation, and public spaces. Jon has been integral to the firm’s success since joining in 2008 after receiving a Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design at the University of Illinois. He consistently delivers successful lighting solutions that meet his clients’ needs and have won him and TLP numerous awards and accolades. Jon’s professional activities center around education, for four years he taught a lighting fundamentals course at Drexel University and has been interviewed for several publications including Building Operating Management discussing high-performance lighting design, and ET Now discussing the integrated control system for The Institute for Creation’s Discovery Center for Science & Earth History. When not at work, he can often be found riding his bike through the city streets or along wooded trails.

Jon’s past speaking experience includes 2017 IALD Enlighten Americas where he presented “Professional Tools Track: Architect, Engineer, BIM: Where the Lighting Designer Fits In”, 2017 LightFair Conference where he gave a guided tour of three Philadelphia projects in collaboration with B-K Lighting, and 2016 AIA Philadelphia Suburban Pro-Con and Philadelphia Design on the Delaware Conference where he presented “LEDs Can Do That, Right?”.
